Axis is a vibrant community-driven marketplace that connects individuals and local businesses. Its waitlist site highlights unique features like the Giveaway Program, enabling businesses to offer free products to enhance customer loyalty and engagement.

(MY APPROACH)

The design draws inspiration from platforms like Airbnb and Contra, fusing bold branding with user-friendly layouts. It features clear CTAs such as “Join the Waitlist” and “Join the Giveaway Program” to encourage immediate user action.

(VISION & INNOVATION)

Axis seeks to transform local commerce by integrating community giveaways into the buying and selling process, unlike major competitors. By making giveaways a core feature, Axis turns them into a structured growth tool for users and businesses. This innovation combines local business visibility with community engagement in a seamless, mobile-first experience.

(CHALLENGES)

Here are some challenges we encountered:

  • Balancing brand authority with an approachable tone to attract both tech-savvy business owners and casual shoppers.

  • Designing a platform that effectively addresses the needs of two distinct target audiences: buyers and business owners.

  • Integrating multiple calls to action (CTAs) without overwhelming the user experience.

  • Highlighting the Giveaway Program as the central feature while still effectively showcasing other marketplace functionalities.

(PROBLEMS)

Some of the problems we addressed include:

  • Enhanced Local Business Visibility – Axis provides small businesses with a dedicated platform to showcase their products and services directly to local buyers.

  • Established a Centralized Marketplace – Buyers can now easily find local products, services, and deals all in one location, eliminating the need to search multiple platforms.

  • Fostered Community Engagement – The Giveaway Program encourages interaction between businesses and community members, promoting loyalty and encouraging repeat visits.

  • Increased Marketing Efficiency – Businesses can attract foot traffic and online engagement without overspending on traditional advertising methods.

(USER-CENTRIC DESIGN)

The design process focused on empathy and clarity:

  • Buyers see an easy-to-navigate interface showcasing deals, giveaways, and nearby products.

  • Business owners get a clear path to list products, join the giveaway program, and track visibility growth.

  • Visual storytelling is prioritized through images, videos, and real user stories to build trust.

(USER NEEDS)

  • Buyers: Want affordable deals, easy product discovery, and trustworthy sellers nearby.

  • Business Owners: Need cost-effective visibility, a way to attract loyal customers, and tools to promote new or excess inventory.
Axis bridges these needs by combining commerce + community engagement in one place.
